Carrying on with my theme of famous female characters from well known novels, here is the newest addition to the collection – Cathy.  I’m sure she needs no introduction, as you’ll recognise her from the title of this post.  But, in case you rushed in, Cathy is from Wuthering Heights, a novel by Emily Brontë published in 1847. It was her only novel and written between December 1845 and July 1846.

Cathy is known for being a free spirit, loving the moors. Some say she was a wild creature and the dress has been made to look as if it were unkempt form being worn out on the moors and, the jacket included as the first thing she found to throw over her shoulders as she ran out the door.

Was it a love story? Perhaps, but I think its also many other things.  If you would like to find out more about the novel try clicking here to visit the Wikipedia page or, to read the story on line, dowload it to your PC or other media device try clicking here .

  1. Thanks again Amy.

  2. I’m currently learning English and Textiles A Level and I’m reading Wuthering Heights for my coursework and you have inspired me to design my next project on love throughout the ages, novels that portray tragic love 😀 I was stumped because I liked the theme of Ballerina but this makes my project seem complete sense 😀 thank you

  3. Hi Linda,

Thanks for the feedback, I really enjoyed making her. I still don’t think I’ve caught her personality yet, so I’m going to have a go at making another. This dress was only up on Etsy for a couple of days before I had to take her down because she sold straight away.

Thanks for commenting is always good to hear what you have to say.

  4. This is wonderful! You continue to amaze me!
