When I started this piece I had in mind Scarlet O’Hara from Gone With The Wind. But, as it went on it didn’t seem to be working. I’d created a hooped skirt using some wire but the material I had just didn’t seem to sit right. I put it aside for a couple of days to mull it over (plus Tom had managed to bring home some Man Flu, which I inherited). Anyway, I got back to it and the piece evloved, eventually becoming a ball type gown decorated with flying birds.

With this winter light our photography is suffering – we need to get a new camera! The one we’re using at the moment is 3.2 MP Cannon Powershot A400 which we got in 2004. A great camera in its time, with plenty of mannual controls. But, compared to what’s available today, we’re making hard work of taking photos. Never mind, here are the rest of the photos. Hope you like the piece.

I have come across the magazine and have considered doing something. When I get a chance I’ll get Tom to look further into it.
Thanks for your lovely comments
Your work is absolutely amazing!!!! Have you submitted your assemblage dresses to any of the Stampington magazines (Somerset Studio, Sew Somerset, etc)? You absolutely should if you haven’t.
I DO love it. It’s beautiful. Love the birds!!! Love the trim. Love the bodice! Amazing!!!
