Assemblage Wendy Moira Angela Darling

Wendy Moira Angela Darling is a fictional character and the female protagonist of Peter and Wendy by J. M. Barrie.  Her exact age is not specified in the original play or novel by Barrie, though she is implied to be 12 or 13 years old or younger, as she is “just Peter’s size” and he still has all his baby teeth. Wendy expresses an innocent adoration for Peter as soon as they meet, and is honest to herself and company throughout the entire book, play or movie. As a girl who is beginning to “grow up”, she stands in contrast to Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to do so, the major theme of the Peter Pan stories. In the beginning, Wendy hesitates to escape to the Neverland, to take care of her brothers and accompany her mother, but in time, she shows passion for magical events and adventures.

I’m excited about this little piece I’ve just started, so thought I’d share a couple of pics to show what I’ve done so far.

I’ve always loved this story by J.M.Barrie, and was excited when the film “Finding Neverland” directed by Marc Forster came out a few years ago in 2004 and thought it magical.

In the piece I’m making I’ve got Wendy sitting by the window waiting for Peter, or could it be her daughter or grandaughter? this story goes on and on while the magic lasts.  Hope you like what I’ve done so far.

  1. This is glorious and I can’t wait for the finished assemblage. I adore Peter Pan and everything connected. My father played Mr Darling at the Scala Theatre in 1955, with Evelyn Laye as Mrs Darling. It was the one year that the same actor didn’t play Captain Hook. In this instance it was Donald Wolfit! Alas, I didn’t see it as I wasn’t born until ’56!
