Laura Vickers – Dear Prudence

My daughter was in London at the weekend and visited the V&A. Whilst there she bought me a beautiful print by Laura Vickers, of two little foxes in bed with a beautiful cosy detailed quilt. I love the illustration.

I looked her up on the net as I hadn’t seen her work before, sometimes I wonder where I hide myself. Some of her illustrations come under the name Dear Prudence. I’ve put some images up that I like, but couldn’t find the one Jessie got me.

She’s was a fashion designer and is now based in Yorkshire. She is still inspired by fashion in her works especially the 40’s and 50’s prints.
She is also inspired by nature, with a focus on British wildlife.

She likes to give her animals and birds little personalities and dress them up, like a modern day Beatrix Potter! She enjoys the juxtaposition of a little bird or hare with everyday objects. To give them an almostĀ  human quality.
