Sculpture of Birds in Flight made from old Guiness cans

 Each Monday I teach an art group and each year they enter the competition at the Oriel Mon Gallery, here on the Isle of Anglesey.  Each year several of the group have their work accepted but, this year one of the group won the major prize with the work shown here and it has been sold.  Others in the group also sold pieces  and we’ve all been very excited.  Congrats to everybody!!!

 I did like the way the piece was lit, the shadows it cast on the nearby wall were very  intriguing.

Elizabeth Bennet

Pride and Prejudice is a novel by Jane Austen, first published in 1813, it is the inspiration for my latest assemblage dress. The story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of early 19th-century England. Elizabeth is the second of five daughters of a country gentleman, living near the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire, near London.

The assemblage as a closed book

I was given a tiny old 1930′s encyclopedia and loved the size of it.  So, I just thought of Alice in Wonderland, where she enters a minature world.

When I took the photos for our online shop and Etsy store the sun was out and I managed to get some good photos in the natural light.  Here are some of the extra photos I took but have not been used on Etsy.

I’m enjoying playing with book sculptures at the moment and love the idea of little theater sets.

Small 14cm long, 15cm wide, paper fabric assemblage.

One small three dimensional tea party dress, ready for tea with the Mad Hatter and his friends. Tailored and stitched together from old book pages and old fabric.

Including hanger and wooden peg.
