Art Assemblage Tin -Le Cirque

Another little tin box assemblage.

Another little tin box assemblage.

This art assemblage tin came about after my little trip around the net, looking for inspiration and ending up at the circus. The colours I chose for this piece were not my usual colour palette but, I felt the colours on the outside of the tin called for something flamboyant.

The outside of this tin is more colorful than those I've previously worked with.

Being 12 cm long, 6cm deep, 17cm wide the tin dictated the size of the dress. So, she ended up being a short ballet  style costume, as worn by the ladies of the flying trapeze.

A tin that whispers of an old travelling French circus when the cover draws back. The inside lid of the tin is hand painted using acrylics to look like the night sky with white and gold stars.

I used rhinestones on the tin and dress.

Rhine stones also decorate the inside of the lid to depict the circus tent canopy. Under the canopy hang a pair of worn ballet shoes with a rhinestone on each.

The slippers, which are fiddly to make but I love to do, are also decorated with rhinestones.

Is It Risky To Be Risque

Its not quite finished but here is a sneak preview of Sue’s latest tin; one of the two she was multitasking , if you remember.

A vintage tin assemblage, as yet untitled.

I don’t want to say too much but this is a cute little piece and the title of the post may give you an idea of what the tin will eventually contain.

Well its untitled as far as I know.

I’m not sure how much work is left to do but I think it could be finished by Sunday.  That being the case I’m sure Sue will have it listed on Etsy sometime Monday.

What might go in here?

Feel free to leave some guesses as to what the tin will contain. Just think “risque”.

Hmm, tintriguing (sorry, I just couldn’t resist that).

Vintage Tin Assemblage Art – My Delight and Thy Delight

My Delight and Thy Delight

No Tom, its not the tin you thought, is it?  Unlike you I can multitask 😉 and this tin was being worked on in tandem with the one you spotted. This tin has been influenced by the beautiful poem My Delight and Thy Delight by the British poet Robert Bridges.

My Delight and Thy Delight

Again my love of words have come into play.

Robert Bridges
My Delight and Thy Delight

MY delight and thy delight
Walking, like two angels white,
In the gardens of the night:

My desire and thy desire
Twining to a tongue of fire,
Leaping live, and laughing higher:

Thro’ the everlasting strife
In the mystery of life.

Love, from whom the world begun,
Hath the secret of the sun.

Love can tell, and love alone,
Whence the million stars were strewn,
Why each atom knows its own,
How, in spite of woe and death,
Gay is life, and sweet is breath:

This he taught us, this we knew,
Happy in his science true,
Hand in hand as we stood
‘Neath the shadows of the wood,
Heart to heart as we lay
In the dawning of the day.
