The Flower Maiden

I’ve finished her and am calling her –  The Flower Maiden.  I’m hoping she captures the innocence of spring.

“Spring passes and one remembers one’s innocence.
Summer passes and one remembers one’s exuberance.
Autumn passes and one remembers one’s reverence.
Winter passes and one remembers one’s perseverance.”

– Yoko Ono

It’s the first time I’ve tried hair like this.  I’ve added the cotton and twine individually to the figurines head, time consuming but I’m pleased with the result.

.

I wanted the only splash of colour to come from her flower crown which I’ve made from bits of vintage costume jewellery and little flowers from bits of fabric I had.

.
.

I love her pose, it’s inspired from an image I found on pinterest (still loving pintrest, the only problem being I’m still addicted.)  She “en pointe” and has her hands held together and tucked under her chin.  I wanted her pose to be simple and young expressing spring time.

.

I’ve embroidered her dress with lots of simple pale blue flowers.

I hope you like her and would love to hear your comments.
